April 18, 2023 Consistory Highlights

The Consistory would like to thank everyone who helped in various ways throughout Holy Week.

·       Dreisbach’s 235th Anniversary is upon us.  Sign-up sheets for purchasing shirts and bags are located at the back of the church.

·       We are still waiting for Robert M. Sides to schedule a time to install the microphones.

·       Several quotes were considered for the lawn mowing of the church property. Consistory voted to continue using Emil Stenger.

·       Penn Central Conference will be having an Annual Meeting, April 29, 2023 at Selinsgrove UCC.  The meeting will include a Vision Event to encourage more cohesiveness and communication between churches in the Association.

 


Nursery Volunteers

 Volunteers are available to care for your child in the nursery every Sunday after the Children’s Time until the end of the service. Parents and caretakers are welcome to send their children to the nursery during that time. All volunteers have appropriate clearances. If you would like to participate in this ministry, please contact Diane Hackenberg. 

May’s volunteers are: May 7 – Diane Amabile; May 14 – Diane Hackenberg; May 21 – Michelle Owens; May 28 – Pam Eberhart.

 


Upcoming Meetings

·       The Prayer Shawl group will meet on Thursday, May 18th  at 6:30 p.m. at the church. All are welcome.

·       Prime timers for May will be at OIP Mifflinburg on May 25th at 12:30pm.

·       The next Consistory meeting will be on Tuesday, May 16th at 7:00pm.  Going forward they will meet on the 3rd Tuesday of the month.

 


Help Keep Dreisbach Church Rd Beautiful
Our highway cleanup on Dreisbach Church Rd will take place on Sunday May 7th soon after the church service. A signup sheet to volunteer and select a section of the highway to rid of litter is in the back of the church or call Don Bowman @ 570-966-0785 to volunteer.  Gloves, vests and plastic bags to contain the litter will be provided. Thank you for considering, Don Bowman

 


VBS – “Shine Jesus’ Light!”

Keep in mind that VBS takes place the week of June 12th from 6:30-8:30 P.M.  This year’s theme is “Shine Jesus’ Light!  We welcome children ages 3 – 6th grade.  We will be having a closing on Sunday, June 18th along with a Silent Auction and a Chinese Auction.  We are in need of helpers for the week !!!  If you have any questions, please call Tricia Lloyd (570-412-3511), Sharon Rein (570-713-9503) or Judy Willow (570-412-2814).  

 


Graduates

Graduation season will be here soon.  If you or a family member has or will graduate this year please contact Pam Pfirman (pam_adminsec@dreisbachucc.org or 570-898-9774) so that we may honor their accomplishments.

 


Special Music

On May 14th we will have special music by Jennifer Peoples-Johnson, a Christian flautist.  She will have her CD’s for sale in the back of the sanctuary if you feel inclined to listen to her music more often.

 


Prayer Chain

We have reworked the prayer chain and now have it split between a traditional voice chain and a texting chain.  If you signed up and haven’t received any prayer requests please contact Pam Pfirman.  To start a prayer request please contact Pam (570-898-9774) and it will be shared to both branches of the chain.
