Remember the fallen, Honor those that serve, and Teach the next generation about the value of freedom.
Dreisbach's 1st Veterans Christmas Remembrance Celebration was held in December 2017. Our program was conducted in conjunction with the national Wreaths Across America program. In 2017 alone, Wreaths Across America and its national network of volunteers, including Dreisbach, placed over 1.5 million veterans’ wreaths at 1,433 locations in all 50 U.S. states, at sea, and abroad.
Dreisbach's goal of this effort is to spread patriotism and commemoration, during the Christmas season, for the ultimate sacrifices these veterans made for our country. Wreaths were placed following a celebratory program led by Master of Ceremonies, LT COL (Retired) Andy Mahoney of the Bucknell Military Science program. State Representative Fred Keller also participated as well as the PA National Guard and other local veterans. Patriotic music and light refreshments were offered.
This year, National Wreaths Across America day will be held on Saturday, December 15th 2018. The Dreisbach ceremony will begin at 10:00AM followed by the placement of wreaths in our church’s cemetery which will then be followed by a time of fellowship and light refreshments in the church social hall. Please note that the ceremony will be moved to our indoor sanctuary this year in hopes of expanding upon the ceremony and for the comfort of all those to enjoy.
In 2017, there were 106 wreaths placed on a Dreisbach veteran's grave and 8 ceremonial wreaths were honored. This year our goal is again to place a wreath on all veteran graves at Dreisbach. With your continued generosity, we are hoping to meet this goal and ensure no veteran is forgotten. Each hand made, fresh, live wreath made by Alex Haines of Mifflinburg will cost $20 to sponsor in 2018.
This event is free and open to the public.
